My son and I camp and prospect together in the Northwest Georgia mountains...and had a blast!
Although Fall is slipping into Winter here in Georgia, I still get out and prospect for gold... That yellow metal doesn't care what season or temperature it is...it's always there, just waiting to be found!
On Saturday & Sunday, November 7th & 8th, I took my son Christian up camping and dredging with me to the Northwest Georgia mountains. The Fall colors were still on the trees, and a lot of dead leaves on the ground keeping our feet dry from the wet ground below. It was super clear both days, with the sun low in the Southern sky, and a low of 40 degrees or so, but warming up to about 68 degrees by early afternoon. The water temperature was, well, a "balmy" 46 degrees...
I took my smaller 2 1/2 inch Proline highbanker/dredge combo unit this trip out, instead of my big floating 4 inch Keene dredge. I wanted to work some shallow water areas in a bench gravel bar right on at the water line. The creek had flooded about 6 or 7 feet above the current level recently, so I hoped for some flow gold behind a brush pile and big tree root. The water was flowing relatively fast, and crystal clear this trip, a rare treat for Georgia streams.
I had Christian take a bunch of short videos this trip, and I posted them on YouTube for all to enjoy and learn from how I dredge and use my Proline 2 1/2 inch highbanker/dredge combo, in the dredge mode. One of the hardest things is to manage all the hose lengths so they don't kink up, and so I can keep the engine/water pump unit flat & level, yet close to the water so the suction inlet gets good water.
Hope you enjoy sharing our "Gold Adventure" weekend!! -- Randy
